Shopify CRO Audit Service: Pricing, Scope & What You Get
A Shopify CRO audit costs $450–900 for an express review of your product and checkout pages (10–20 hours, 4–6 working days), $1,500–3,000 for a full-funnel audit with session recordings and analytics validation (35–70 hours, 2–3 weeks), and $3,500–7,000 if you want the fixes implemented, not just documented (6–8 weeks). Ongoing CRO with A/B testing runs $1,800–4,000 per month. Those figures assume a $30–50/hr Shopify specialist rate — a US or UK agency quoting identical scope at $90–150/hr lands 2–3× higher for the same deliverable. MILEDEVS is a Shopify Select Partner working 100% on Shopify since 2019, across 50+ brands.
Most CRO audit pages promise "up to 300% more conversions" and hide the price behind a call. This page does the opposite: here is what the audit costs, exactly what we open and check, what lands in your inbox at the end, and — the section nobody writes — the cases where a CRO audit is the wrong thing to buy and we will tell you so before taking the money.
What a Shopify CRO audit costs in 2026
| Type of audit | Cost | Hours | Timeline | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Express CRO audit | $450–900 | 10–20 | 4–6 working days | Home, one collection, one product page, cart and checkout reviewed manually on desktop and mobile. Prioritised fix list. |
| Full-funnel CRO audit | $1,500–3,000 | 35–70 | 2–3 weeks | Everything above plus GA4 funnel analysis, session recordings, heatmaps, tracking validation, mobile-specific pass, and a tested-hypothesis backlog. |
| Audit + implementation | $3,500–7,000 | 80–180 | 6–8 weeks | The full audit, then we actually build the fixes into your theme and verify them live. Findings become shipped changes. |
| Ongoing CRO retainer | $1,800–4,000/mo | 40–90/mo | rolling | Continuous hypothesis testing, A/B tests, monthly reporting. Makes sense above roughly 20,000 sessions/month. |
The range inside each tier is driven by catalogue size, how customised your theme already is, whether you run one market or several currencies and languages, and whether analytics is trustworthy on day one. A 40-product single-market store sits at the bottom of each range; a 3,000-SKU store on Shopify Plus with B2B pricing sits at the top. For Plus-specific engagement rates, see Shopify Plus agency pricing.
What we actually check
A real audit is not a Lighthouse screenshot and twelve generic tips. This is the checklist we work through, and every finding comes with the evidence that produced it.
Product pages
Above-the-fold clarity of price, variant and add-to-cart on a 375px screen. Variant selector behaviour when a combination is out of stock. Image count, zoom, and whether the gallery loads before the buy button. Delivery time and returns visibility before checkout, not after. Trust signals near the CTA. Review placement and whether review counts are real. Cross-sell and bundle logic that raises AOV without pushing the buy button below the fold.
Collection and search
Filter and sort behaviour on mobile, how many taps to a narrowed list, whether filters survive a back-button press. Empty-state handling. Pagination versus infinite scroll and what it does to crawl and to load time. Internal search quality on misspellings and synonyms — on larger catalogues this is frequently the single biggest recoverable loss.
Cart and checkout
Cart drawer versus cart page and which suits your basket size. Shipping cost surprise — where it first appears and how many people leave at that moment. Discount field placement. Guest checkout friction. Payment method order and whether express wallets appear early. On Plus, checkout extensions and what they cost you in load time.
Mobile
Everything above, re-checked on a real mid-range Android over a throttled connection rather than a desktop browser resized to phone width. Most stores lose the majority of their revenue opportunity on mobile and audit it on desktop.
Speed, as a conversion factor
Core Web Vitals on the templates that actually carry revenue: product and collection, not just the homepage. If your LCP on product pages is above four seconds, no amount of copy and layout work will move the number — the fix is performance first. We measure it during the audit and tell you which problem to solve first. That work is scoped separately on our Shopify speed optimization service page, where the typical journey is from around 35 to 90+ PageSpeed.
Analytics and tracking
Before any recommendation, we verify that GA4 events fire once and only once, that the purchase event matches Shopify order count, and that consent mode is not silently dropping a third of your sessions. An audit built on broken tracking is an audit built on fiction. This step regularly rewrites the priority list.
What you get at the end
- A written report with every finding, the evidence behind it (recording, screenshot, GA4 figure), and the specific fix.
- A prioritised backlog scored by expected impact against implementation effort — so you can stop at the top five items and still capture most of the value.
- A short recorded walkthrough of your own store, so the reasoning is watchable rather than only readable.
- Ready-to-hand developer tickets. If you have an in-house developer, they can start the same day. If you do not, we can implement — see hire a Shopify developer for how that engagement works.
- An honest note on which findings we believe are worth testing rather than simply shipping.
When a CRO audit is the wrong purchase
We turn this work down more often than you would expect. Do not buy a CRO audit if:
- You get under roughly 500 sessions a month. There is not enough traffic for any conclusion to be statistically meaningful, and no A/B test will ever reach significance. Your problem is demand, not layout. Spend the money on traffic first.
- Your tracking has never been set up properly. Then step one is a tracking implementation, which is cheaper and faster. Auditing on bad data produces confident nonsense.
- Your product page LCP is over four seconds. Fix performance first; re-audit afterwards. Otherwise you will pay us to describe a problem that has one cause.
- Your pricing or shipping is genuinely uncompetitive in your category. No button colour fixes a $12 shipping fee against a rival's free threshold. We will say this plainly rather than sell you a report.
- Your store is about to be redesigned anyway. Roll the CRO thinking into the redesign instead of auditing a theme you are replacing in six weeks — see Shopify store redesign cost.
Why a Shopify-only agency for this
Generalist CRO consultants give advice that is true everywhere and actionable nowhere: "reduce friction", "add trust badges". Shopify has specific mechanics — variant behaviour, cart transform and Functions, checkout extensibility limits on non-Plus plans, theme section rendering, app script weight — and most lost conversions on a Shopify store trace back to one of them. We work only on Shopify and have done since 2019, across fashion, jewellery, audio, coffee, kids and B2B catalogues. Examples of that work are in our portfolio, including RINFIT (product configurator and bundle builder aimed at basket size) and HEADPHONE ZONE (large catalogue, faceted search and comparison tools).
We also do not hand you a list we cannot implement. The same team that writes the findings can build them, which removes the usual gap where a beautiful audit dies in a backlog nobody owns.
How to start
Send us your store URL and read-only GA4 access. We come back within two working days with a fixed quote, the tier we think fits, and — where relevant — the recommendation not to buy an audit at all. No retainer lock-in and no long discovery call before you get a number. Start here.
FAQ
How much does a Shopify CRO audit cost?
$450–900 for an express audit, $1,500–3,000 for a full-funnel audit, and $3,500–7,000 if implementation is included. Ongoing CRO retainers run $1,800–4,000 per month. The variables are catalogue size, theme customisation, number of markets, and whether analytics is reliable at the start.
How long does it take?
Express: 4–6 working days. Full-funnel: 2–3 weeks, because session recordings need time to accumulate enough sessions to be worth reading. Implementation adds 4–6 weeks depending on how many findings you choose to ship.
What conversion rate increase can you guarantee?
None, and be sceptical of anyone who does. Outcomes depend on your traffic quality, product, pricing and starting baseline. What we commit to is a specific list of defects with evidence attached and a priority order, plus an honest statement when we think the ceiling is low. Guaranteed percentages are a sales device, not a forecast.
Do you need access to my store?
For the audit itself, read-only GA4 access and the public storefront are enough. Staff access is only needed if you also want implementation, and we work on a duplicated theme so nothing changes on your live store until you approve it.
Is a CRO audit worth it for a small store?
Below roughly 500 sessions a month, no. There is not enough data, and you would be paying for opinion dressed as analysis. Between 500 and 5,000 sessions the express audit makes sense. Above 20,000 sessions a month, an ongoing testing retainer beats one-off audits.
Can you fix what you find?
Yes. Roughly half our audit clients take the implementation option, where findings are built into the theme and verified live. The other half hand the tickets to their own developer, which is a perfectly good outcome — the report is written to be usable by someone who has never spoken to us.
